We are a non-maintained Specialist School for children and young people aged 5 to 19 who have a diagnosis of Autism.

Our mission for our pupils to leave us with the skills, knowledge and understanding they need to be successful adults with autism. Our school was opened in 1974, by the parent of an autistic child, and we have been growing and developing ever since. I am delighted to welcome you to the Peterhouse School website on behalf of our dedicated team. As the Head of this remarkable school, I am proud to share our story and the exceptional educational opportunities we provide.

For over 50 years, Peterhouse has been providing specialist education to autistic young people, offering tailored support and a nurturing environment for our students. At the heart of our mission is the goal of supporting our students to become successful autistic adults. We are committed to empowering each individual to reach their full potential and thrive in the world beyond our school, preparing our students for fulfilling and independent lives.

Last week pupils from Class Paul and Class Suzy visited The National Apprenticeship Show at the Exhibition Centre in Liverpool. We had a great day chatting to lots of employers and training providers, finding out about all the different apprenticeships available.

Well done to the winner of our Christmas card competition, pictured below with his winning design and his class teacher, Becca. The cards have now been made and are ready for pupils from every class across the school to write and deliver to our local community as part of their work-related learning. As part of our Anti-Bullying activities this week, some of the pupils have written acrostic poems. We love this poem that one of the pupils in Class Carina wrote completely independently!

Yesterday was World Kindness Day 💓 We were the recipients of an amazing act of kindness. Churches from across Southport, along with the Southport & Area Schools Worker Trust, donated ‘Blessing in a Backpack’ bags for primary age children in Southport, including the students at Peterhouse. The bags contain toys and books, to let every child know how amazing they are 😊

Today, we had a puppet & story telling workshop by Kingsley & Co in school, which pupils really enjoyed and engaged well with! The workshop was part of this week's anti-bullying activities.
