“Peterhouse aims to provide a specialist environment which is flexible and responsive in fulfilling the academic, social, emotional and physical potential of all our young people, equipping them with the skills, knowledge and understanding to be a successful adult with autism.”

The Peterhouse Way is a ‘Blended Offer’ that is based around our specialist knowledge of autism to create a personalised approach to shape a curriculum offer that engages and enthuses each pupil alongside preparing them to live in a neuro-prevalent world with good quality of life.

We have designed a 5,4,3,2,1 approach that encompasses our ‘hidden curriculum’. A Hidden curriculum is a set of influences that function at a level of organisational structure and culture and ‘encompasses a range of implicit norms, values, beliefs and practices within academic life.’ (Girou and Penna 1979:22). Staff at Peterhouse School are often immersed in an explicitly presented culture where our knowledge and understanding of autism practice is fundamental to how we work alongside our pupils.
