Teachers deliver learning through 3 main teaching styles in order to address pupils’ individual needs and promote independence and building on past experiences. These styles are then closely linked to our assessment criteria.

Modelling:
Where staff offer a higher level of support when working alongside pupils (power with) to teach new information with a clear structure where pupils can follow instruction and learn to think
Guiding:
Where staff offer a medium level of support and opportunity in lessons to enable pupils to access ‘what they know’ encouraging them to make choices and to apply their thinking. To develop teaching opportunities where pupils can explore and develop in different environments to discover new learning and to apply their knowledge independently e.g. sabotage
Coaching:
Where staff offer a low level of support so that pupils are actively thinking, using and applying ‘what they know’ to a variety of situations to problem solve, implement their own skills and strategies where the activities offer a range of different opportunities.
