Quality of Life

Quality of Life is fundamental to people!  We recognise that by listening to and working with our pupils, families and staff we can work together to make a difference to what ‘we think’ and ‘know’ about ‘what is the best way’ for each pupil to develop their own skills and strategies to become successful autistic adults.

We want our pupils to be heard.  We want our families to be heard.  We want our staff to be heard.  We know that ‘how’ we work with each person can make a difference.  We know that each person has their ‘own preferred way’ of working.  Quality of Life includes collaboration with pupils and families, and empowers everyone to work in a way that is ‘best for them’. It dedicates time to talk, listen, share thinking and understand each person to enable us to create opportuntiies, support next steps and provide enrichment to create an education that is right for each pupil.

By working alongside each other we find opportunities to ‘use and develop’ skills and strategies across all aspects of learning both in and beyond school.  Our pupils are supported to practice ‘their thinking’ in everything they do.  This includes learning in real life situations to experience and generalise their learning into the wider world, so that they can ‘use their own preferred ways of working’ independently, ensuring that we support Quality of Life and they become successful autistic adults.
