Background – Capt (Rtd) Midgley spent 25 years in the Army retiring as a Captain after joining as a boy soldier at 16 years old. As an engineer in the Army he spent a considerable amount of time in the training and education arena within the MOD. This included working with other government departments on assurance on course design, delivery and welfare where the military schools receive OFSTED assurance checks. Work here saw the engineering training school receive consecutive EXCELLENT reports and himself being awarded the Chief of Generals Staff commendation on the Queen’s New Year honours list 2018.
