  • Brooms Cross Fishery

    Fri 03 Nov 2023

Some of the students have been going fishing at Brooms Cross Fishery

The therapeutic nature of fishing holds real benefit. It helps the students get outside, enjoy the space and take on challenges in ways that are meaningful for them. Catching a fish brings a huge sense of achievement and accomplishment, and it makes the anticipation and the wait all worthwhile. Not catching a fish helps promote patience, resilience and understanding.

The students look forward to their sessions and improving their skills, many see it as a highlight of the day or week.

  • Flavourfresh trip

    Fri 29 Sep 2023

Class Carina had an amazing time visiting Flavourfresh Salads Ltd to learn more about where our food comes from and how it is grown, following our Food Glorious Food topic this term. Barry was a fantastic guide and allowed us to harvest some tomatoes, look at some of the good bugs that help the tomato plants grow such as Spanish bumble bees (that had just been delivered!) and also answered all our questions! To top it off, we were all kindly gifted a punnet of the most amazing blackberries and strawberries to take home, along with some very hot chillies for the parents! A big thank you to Barry and Flavour Fresh for letting us visit!

He has passed his exams to go to college and has learned the independence skills he needs for his next steps to be successful. He planned a trip to Chester Zoo himself, to learn more, and also to celebrate his achievements!

The trip was a great success and he commented "10 out of 10 day - I feel like I have achieved what I wanted to"!
